The Wonders of Warrnambool

Monday 16th
Arrived at Warrnambool at 16.50 and Brenda was there to meet me. We dis a lovely tour of the town and Coastal areas, stopping at Logan's and Thunder Points. Going back to her house to meet Buddy the dog and having a few beers and a good dinner.

Tuesday 17th
Up early taking Bud for his walk before it got too hot, walked along food walkways around the lakes near by. Prolly joined us with her little Jack Russel -Belle.
Off by 9.30 to go into The Grampions stopping at Dunkeld to call into see a friend of Brenda's who owns a lovely gift shop selling beautiful jumpers made from Marino wool. Bit expensive.
Then onto Halls Gap for a beautiful lunch of Salt and Pepper Squid washed down with a beer. Up to Mount  Zummsteins wonderful view. My camera does not do it justice. Got home about 6 ish both knackered so had cooked chicken and pasta for tea. And decided to watch a movie.

Wednesday 18th
Had a really busy day starting of by going down to The Pavilion for breakie watching all the race horses come down to the beach foe excersise .

The onto onto Portland, one of the busiest smaller ports. We watched these huge trucks tip wood chip onto containers bound for China to make paper.

The go onto these rails that then tip them to a 45degree angle, really amazing.

Had coffee at Portland just outside a beautiful hotel. Typical Australian.

Headed out to Cape Nelson to see one of the oldest Lighthouses.

We then decided to head back onwards home stopping at Port Fairy for tea and cake, beautiful seaside town with fab houses costing an arm and a leg.
Had to have a paddle in The Southern Ocean.

On our way to Tower Hil an old Volcano site we diverted to the Yambuk big slide in the cliffs. Big kid in me had to have a go.

At Tower Hill fed the Emus and had some fantastic views of rock foundations.

Back home we had a quick beer and got ready to go out for dinner with Brenda's friends Wayne and Judy to a very nice resturant called Proudfoots on the river. This is the seafood platter, although I had lamb, very yummy.

Over my time with Brenda we covered just over 1000 Klms. And saw lots more of Australia.

Thursday 19th
Had a short trip round town before catching the 12 noon train back to Melbourne.
Long train trip arriving back at Castlemaine at 17.45 Eli was there to meet me with fish and chips for our tea.
Back at the Shed the sun was pouring through Mick's work shop looks good.

Friday 20th
Mick had to go to Melbourne to collect flooring from a firm called Karndean. These boards are designed in UK made in China and sold in Australia. So I asked if I could go with him in his UT and he said yes!

So off we started at 9.30 got down to the factory about by 12 ish.  The flooring was much heavier than Mick thought, he's trailer takes 500 kilos and this tuff weigh in at 865 so  bit of a drag going. We called in at Stev's a mate Mick used to work with. He has just sold his pad for $1.9 million and building his own place which will be worth approx $3 million. How the other half live. He has used all natural resources, lots of wood, beautiful but not very homely.

Drove back to The Shed for about 6pm so long day.
